Current Event 17:” 18 year old dies of tapeworm”

An 18 year old had a tapeworm egg infestation in there brain. He keep complaining of seizures and ended up with tapeworms in the brain with a swelling over the right eye. The worms had been “taking over his body”and had cysts in his cerebellum which starts above the spinal cord. There is a disease formed when a tapeworm is in the intestine of a person and then digested by another. The disease is called neurocysticercosis. His doctor decided not to give him and antiparasitic drugs from risk of making internal bleeding worse. The doctor then decided to give him a anti-inflammatory drug. Even if the drugs help the infection he will still have to have surgery to reduce brain swelling.

I feel bad for this kid having to die from a tapeworm infection in his brain. Having virtually no way to save him they gave him a medicine to hopefully give him more time. But all it did was speed the process and no matter what he would have died of the infection. This kid with a dream for the future and something he wanted to make of his life died at an early age of 18. That is a problem that nobody deserves to have happen. This is a way to show us we need better ways of keeping the area having good hygiene.
