Current Event #1:"Never Again"

Many of the Stoneman Douglas High School students in Parkland, Florida have survived by huddling in a closet for over an hour and a half. Listening to bursting of guns going off in the hallways, there were 17 students and teachers killed in the event. Two students have agreed  they would do more and they decided to take action on the event. And they made a group called Never Again a group for better gun laws in the United States. Within days Never Again grew with 10’s of thousands of followers. Matt Bennett of Third Way belives the turnout of young people will go up for it may be related to everyone in the US. the Never Again movement have been callling law makers to make better and stricter gun laws. The movement have been organizing protests and gone to the White House and protested there. Also “young people” have had others tring to fight the protest and end it. The movement have been gathering support to push for new legislation in the country. Due to gun laws in the states high school students around the country have been protesting for more gun control laws.

My thoughts of this is that the country should just increase the gun control laws just enough so not everybody in the country can just have a assault weapon. I feel that assault weapons do not belong in the hands of everyone even if they do have a backround check, it isn’t fair for the people who are good with guns to have someone abusing the powerof the avalability of assault weapons. I think this because if one person is able to have one of these “assault weapons” then it may come to a kid taking it, and going to cause another school shooting! Nobody should have to worry about a person coming into there school, shooting inoccent people and then walking away like nothing happened even if they do get arrested those lives are never coming back all these kids have done they shouldn’t have been killed it is unacceptable even if someone was mad from back when they were in the school does not mean they can go kill people. These things just make me upset for what may happen in the future if nobody does anything about this. WHat should be done about this is the goverment should increase gun laws so nobody out of law enforcment should not be able to hold a assault weapon outside of there home and only have assult weapons aloud inside of houses so people can feel better.
